As I’ve traveled the world over the past few years, a common topic of conversation with people tends to be wondering what could have been with someone in their past and if they had made a different decision or if the timing was different. I wanted to write an honest song that came from my past perspectives and experiences. I think one trick in life is not to dwell on something incessantly. I’m a firm believer that if it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen. And if it doesn’t, well…

Sometimes I really go for Christian rock - not only because of the heartwarming lyrics, but because it frequently involves exquisite melodies and arrangements. Tim Ouyang aka "Tim Be Told" is an undisputable master of this genre, especially when it comes to ballads. With the mind-blowing selection of songs on "Friends and Foes", he certainly found much more new friends than foes.

A magical collection. Each track hits home like nothing else I've heard all year. Tim accomplishes what few (arguably more popular) artists have, trading formula for nuance. Every artistic risk pays off. The holy blend of genres Tim pulls off here may not be for everyone, but I find it the musical equivalent of what Kafka calls great art: it smashes the frozen sea inside us. This album is an immense and bighearted gift to the world. (Impossible to choose a favorite track.)
