About SHORELINE:
I've always had an affinity toward the ocean-- or any body of water for that matter-- and obsessed over the significance of the shoreline and how it represents life in such a fantastic, poignant way. As poet W. H. Auden once wrote... "Thousands have lived without love, not one without water." There's just something about water.
Throughout many of the songs I've previously written, I've often spoken about the topic of homesickness. My faith has presented me with an understanding and acknowledgement of a particular, permanent homesickness I'll have during my time here on this earth. With this notion, while the peace found in something beyond this place constantly entices and beckons me to walk right into the ocean waters, the family, friends and people whose lives I draw on for love and emotions have kept me on this shore. The magnificent people I've come to love and experience moments with, have pulled me back from the edge and shown me both love as well as how to love deeper, even in the face of depravity and grief. In many of the hardest seasons of my life, God has sent so many wonderful people into my life who, unbeknownst to them, have literally saved me from losing myself. This is a song for each and every one of these people.
